popularized in the workplace?

Answer at the bottom of the newsletter

Coffee enthusiasts know the search for perfect beans doesn’t end at the checkout.

Once you’ve got that rich, aromatic bag home, keeping it fresh is key to every delicious cup.

Whole coffee beans always deliver the best flavor when ground right before brewing.

If you prefer pre-ground, use it within two weeks and store it carefully to avoid losing flavor.

Avoid clear glass jars in sunny spots.

The enemies of coffee are air, light, moisture, and heat, so store beans in airtight containers made of ceramic, stainless steel, or opaque metal.

Never refrigerate or freeze your coffee.

Beans quickly absorb odors and moisture, which dulls their character.

Store smart for incredible flavor in every morning brew!

Secret Hack: Storing Coffee Like a Pro:
No Matter Where You Live

Did you know your climate can make or break your coffee’s freshness? Here’s how to outsmart the weather and keep your beans at their flavorful best:

☀️ Tropical Climates – Humidity is your enemy. Use airtight, ultra-dry containers and toss in a small silica gel pack to fight moisture.

❄️ Cold Climates – Indoor heat can parch your beans. Store them away from heaters or vents, and choose a spot with a stable temperature.

⛰️ High-Altitude Areas – Cooler air slows aging but speeds up drying. A vacuum-sealed container helps your beans stay balanced, aromatic, and brew-ready.

CLD Insider Tip: Adjust your storage setup to match your climate, and your coffee will stay fresher for days or even weeks longer!

🍪☕ Cookie Butter Latte (Biscoff™ Bliss in a Mug)

Craving something cozy, creamy, and a little bit decadent? This homemade Cookie Butter Latte wraps up fall flavors in a warm mug—and it’s so easy to make at home. Just be sure to use fresh-brewed coffee or espresso for the best flavor experience!

🛒 What You’ll Need:

        • 2 shots espresso (or ¼ cup strong brewed coffee)

        • 8 oz whole milk

        • 1 heaping tablespoon cookie butter (like Biscoff™ spread)

        • Pinch of salt

        • Whipped cream (optional, but encouraged!)

        • Ground cinnamon for garnish

        • Extra cookie butter, warmed, for drizzle

👩‍🍳 Directions:

        1. Brew It Fresh
Pull your espresso shots or brew about ¼ cup of strong coffee. Set aside while you prep the milk.

        2. Heat the Milk
Pour 8 oz of whole milk into a microwave-safe cup and heat for about 1 minute (until warm but not boiling).

        3. Mix the Magic
Stir in 1 tablespoon of cookie butter and a pinch of salt.

Use a hand frother (or whisk) to blend until smooth, creamy, and frothy. Make sure all the cookie butter is melted into the milk.

        4. Build Your Latte
In your favorite mug, pour in your fresh espresso (or coffee), then top with the cookie butter milk mixture.

        5. Top It Off
Add a generous swirl of whipped cream, a sprinkle of cinnamon, and drizzle with warmed cookie butter for that extra indulgent touch.

🍁 Bonus Tip:

For the warm drizzle, microwave an extra teaspoon of cookie butter in a small dish for about 10–15 seconds until pourable. (Careful, it gets hot fast!)

Serve with
Biscoff™ cookies for a fun fall treat!  ENJOY!

💡 Answer to Trivia Question:

The United States.

The term "coffee break" was first popularized in 1952 through an ad campaign by the Pan-American Coffee Bureau...but the concept itself dates back to 1902, when companies like Barcalounger in Buffalo, NY, began offering short, paid coffee breaks to boost employee morale.
